Our ethics

How we stay firmly on the right side of the line.

A service like ours could sound invasive. It isn’t — and we’d rather over-explain than leave you wondering. Here’s exactly what we do and don’t do.

We only use public information

Everything in your report comes from things anyone on the internet can already see, or from trusted public databases. Think of it as walking across the street to look at your own shop window.

We never log in or break in

We don’t use passwords, we don’t access private systems, and we don’t run intrusive scans or anything resembling an “attack.” Doing any of that would need your written permission — and it’s not part of this service.

People are off-limits

Where we look at public, work-related signals, we report patterns about the business — never profiles of named individuals. This is about strengthening your company, not getting anyone in trouble.

We keep data to a minimum

We collect only what we need for your report, store it securely, never sell it, and delete what we don’t need. You can ask us to remove your information at any time.

We’re honest about limits

A report is a clear snapshot, not a guarantee. We’ll tell you what we found and what’s worth fixing — we won’t pretend to make you “100% secure,” because no one honestly can.

Real people, reachable

There’s a human behind Sightline. If anything in a report is unclear, or you want your data removed, you can email us and a person will reply.
